It's goodbye from me and it’s goodbye from her
(19.05.08)
For this season anyway!
I hope you didn't miss our weekly report last week – there wasn't much joy to report!
At the
Preliminary Round of the
Senior County Championships all our participating Counties in the
Men’s & Women’s events failed to progress to the
Championship Finals Weekend. This means that the West HA will be hosting the
Senior Women’s County Championships at
Exeter University on Saturday/Sunday 31 May/1 June without a West representative. Instead we will be laying on West sunshine and hospitality for
Middlesex,
Hertfordshire,
Oxfordshire,
Yorkshire and
Cumbria to contest the Finals. Information about the event will be posted on the
England Hockey website shortly...
However, it was a different story at the
YAZOO National Youth Hockey Festival in Nottingham at the weekend where we had 4 teams participating in the
YAZOO National Mini Hockey Championships... and 3 of them returned to the West as
National Champions!
Ex-Arsenal and England football captain,
Tony Adams, who is currently Assistant Manager of Portsmouth, missed Pompey’s FA Cup victory parade to turn up in Nottingham yesterday to watch his daughter Amber help
Millfield Prep School win the U
13 National Mini Hockey Championship Finals.
Millfield Prep School U11 Boys also enjoyed success to ensure a double celebration for Millfield whilst
Cheltenham Junior School won the
Girl's U11 title. Congratulations go to both Schools and well done
For full details of the events at the
YAZOO National Youth Hockey Festival please visit the new look
England Hockey website.
This concludes our End of Season reporting for 2007-08. Let’s hope for more success for our West Clubs next season – look out for
National Competition Entry Forms which should be available soon.
DON'T FORGET THE WEST HOCKEY ASSOCIATION AGM AT
TAUNTON VALE SPORTS CLUB ON
THURSDAY 5 JUNE STARTING
7.30PM
See you there!
