Jobs at UK School Games 2008
(01.04.08)
England, Scotland, Wales and Ulster are competing in the
UK School Games in
Bristol &
Bath from
28-31 August 2008.
The
UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age.
The sports programme has been increased for 2008 to include a second team sport. Combined with the existing programme of Athletics, Badminton, Fencing, Gymnastics, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis and Volleyball, Hockey brings the total to 9 sports.
Each of the 9 sports are combined into a 4 day games environment designed to replicate the feel of major events such as the
Olympic Games and
Paralympic Games.
The
UK School Games seeks to create an inspirational and motivational setting which encourages more young people to take part and succeed in sport.
Hockey is looking for two volunteers, a
Welfare Coordinator and a
Welfare Officer, to assist us in ensuring that the welfare of all participants at the
UK School Games is assured and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who would be interested in either role.
The right candidates will need to be available for the duration of the event itself (28-31 August 2008), be available for training between 5-8 June and be available for 3 or 4 daytime meetings spread out in the months and weeks leading up to the event (dates TBC).
The positions are voluntary, unpaid positions but all expenses will be paid (travel to and from the venue and meetings, accommodation, kit, meals, etc.) and would provide the right person with an excellent experience of a multi-sport event and develop their CV in a ‘welfare in sport’ setting.
