Disappointment for West Clubs
(04.03.08)
It was disappointment for all but one of our Clubs in the later stages of
EH National Competitions at the weekend.
In the Final of the
EH Women’s 2nd XI Cup, it was golden goal misery for
Exe as they were beaten by
Loughborough Students in front of a crowd of over 100 spectators supporting both teams.
Exe equalised in the last 2 minutes to finish 1-1 at full time before
Loughborough Students scored a penalty stroke in the 79th minute to secure victory.
The West's only success story was
Wimborne Wayfarers 4-2 victory at home to
Bramhall in the Quarter Final of the
Men’s Vase. Their reward is a Semi-final trip to
UCL Academicals on
30 March.
In the Quarter Final of the
Men’s Trophy,
Devizes were beaten 4-2 at
Banbury and
Jersey lost 7-2 at
Henley.
In the Quarter Finals of the
Men’s Vintage Cup,
Hereford lost out 6-0 at home to
Richmond and
Isca faced a long trip home after the heartbreak of losing 4-2 on penalty strokes at
Ipswich, after finishing 2-2 at full time.
This weekend sees
Plymouth Marjon host
City of York in the Quarter Final of the
Men’s Vintage Cup,
Gloucester City travel to
Hampton in Arden and
Jersey host
Slough at the Quarter Final stage of the
Men’s Veterans Plate.
There is also plenty of action in the
Boys & Girls U15 & U18 Cup and
Plate competitions as our Clubs look to make the Quarter Final draw on Monday morning.
For full information on all these competitions have a look at the
Competitions Page of the England Hockey website.
